So the other day Jason, the founder of Potato, which is a Python/Django shop based in London, came along to give a talk about how to get a tech job based on his experience of going through tens of thousands of applications and who knows how many interviews.

Short story: it’s all about the code.

Whatever you do, it all boils down to your code. Sure, impressive twitter/github/etc account helps, but they all are symptoms of you writing awesome code in even more awesome open source projects.

Long story: Jason mentioned a lot of things that you should NOT do and majority of these can be nicely summarized here.

What this talk inspired me to do however, is to apply just by sending my GitHub Url.

Challenge accepted.
